Charming charms

If you have girls and they are anything like mine you know how “important” it is to have some jewellery. I mean important for them. ” But mummy, I need to wear a bracelet and a necklace and a ring with this outfit today for daycare!” Because who ever wore leggings and a cardigan without any accessories?! Many shops sell cute colourful wooden jewellery for kids. I love those! But I also love a bit more understated things to wear every now and then. There is this shop in Paris called Rose & Theo that I have written to you about before too. It´s one of the shops I visit every time. They have these very cute Liberty print pouches and clothes and shoes and what not but they also have super adorable very Parisian chic bracelets for little kids. Santa brought the girls new ones, with little Eiffel tower charms hanging on them and in Liberty fabric bien sur. The bracelets are not available online but if you visit Paris I recommend a peak in to this little shop. 

This adorable little Grey Rabbit music box/ jewellery box hosts some important little trinkets. We have similar jewellery boxes with different tunes and more space for little treasures too, but this one is on their night stand and for that reason holds the new ones. I bought it as a Christmas present for Bubble Gum a year ago in Paris. I used to have the exact same one as a child but in green.

Hot air balloon

Here is a super easy craft for little hands. We made these one night as we needed a transportation for our little Maileg mice and bunny. This craft needs no explanation as you can easily see how it´s done. All you need is a paper cup or a paper ice-cream cup, 3 or 4 straws, a balloon and some tape. Just tape the straws on the cup and blow a balloon to attach on top. And there you go, your hot air balloon is ready. You have to admit that this is a fun, easy and affordable craft suitable even for the smaller kids. 

If you want a super neat finish you could just attach the straws inside the cup. This would also be cute as a candy container in a party. Just make a few, fill them with candy or grapes and berries etc. and turn it in to a centrepiece or “a runner” for the table.

Karkkipäivä

Me teimme tänä vuonna yhden* uuden vuoden päätöksen. Meillä otettiin käytäntöön nyt karkkipäivä kun tytöt ovat vähän isompia. Ennen sille ei ollut tarvetta, koska karkkia syötiin selvästi harvemmin kuin kerran viikossa. Yhtäkkiä kuitenkin huomasin, mm. kaverisynttärien lisääntyessä, että tytöillä saattoi olla “omaa karkkia” ( juhlista saatuja pussukoita, en paheksu siis tätä lainkaan, totean vain) ja jotenkin muutenkin kiinnostus namia kohtaan lisääntyi. En halua tehdä herkuttelusta mitään hirveän isoa asiaa, mutta en toki halua myöskään, että sokeria mussutetaan päivittäin. Niinpä sovimme, että tästä eteenpäin lauantai on se karkkipäivä jolloin karkkia saa syödä. Toki meillä saattaa silti olla joskus vaikkapa pannaria jälkiruuaksi tai syömme kesällä jätskit ihan arkenakin. Mutta karkkia ei meillä syödä kuin kerran viikossa. Tasapuolisuuden vuoksi myös vanhemmat ottivat karkkipäiväkäytäntöön osaa. Itselleni ihan karkin syöminen ei ole niinkään ongelma, mutta koska tietenkin suklaakin meni siihen karkkipäivän kiintiöön mukaan niin myönnän kyllä, että mieleni olisi tehnyt rikkoa jo lupausta vaikka Tammikuu on vasta puolessa välissä. Heti toisella viikollaa siirsimme kyllä karkkipäivän näppärästi sunnuntaille, koska molemmat tytöt oli silloin kutsuttu kaverisynttäreille. Se ei tuntunut heitä lainkaan harmittavan ja sen lisäksi nyt yöpöydällä on odotellut kohta viikon verran juhlista saadut pussukat ja niissä ne ” ihan omat karkkipäiväkarkit”.
