It´s getting closer

Halloween is a sort of a lamp post in the calendar… after that one can slowly start to dip their tows in the pool called Christmas! Right? I´m not putting any decorations out but I do start to plan on it, getting in to the spirit of things. We still have Cotton Candy´s birthday to come so that sort of dictates the decorating time in our house. She decided on a mermaid theme for her friend´s this year ( another pool party as they had so much fun at the flamingo one). But we will have the table set upstairs for them so I will have to tone down the seasonal tinsels and tassels until that is over. Or what would you say about a mixed mermaid and Christmas theme?! The party we hold for the relatives will be at the beginning of December so for that I have decided on a ” seasonably appropriate ” theme ( insert a wink).
What are your holiday musts to get you in the spirit? I love to listen to my festive playlist already and the scented candles in our house have a Chirstmassy scent. I added plenty of cardmom & more cinnamon to my pumpkin spice mix to get a new flavour on my coffee. I also love to browse through my Christmas books & start to plan the decorations and the feel I want in the house for December. Do you always use exactly the same decorations or do you change your theme yearly. I have a bit of both. A mix of the classics & a new theme in the overall scheme.

Kuusivuotisjuhlat

Tänä vuonna Purkka halusi eläinteemaiset synttärit joten pidimme ne Luonnontieteellisessä museossa, eli ns. eläinmuseossa. Museon ylimmässä kerroksessa on iso pöytä jossa voi syödä eväitä ja sinne saa kattaa myös juhlapöydän. Pöytää ei voi varata etukäteen, mutta arkipäivänä siellä ei välttämättä ole hirveää tungosta. Varasin etukäteen tytöille neljä vuodenaikaa-kierroksen johon kuului ohjattu kierros Suomen lunto-osastolla ja sen lisäksi tytöt pääsivät pajaan painattamaan eri eläinten jalanjälkiä paperille. Sitten söimme eväät yläkerrassa. Juhlat olivat todella onnistuneet! Kiitos Luonnontieteelliselle museolle upeasta kierroksesta ja siitä, että saimme odotella lasten noutajia sisällä aulassa sulkemisajan jälkeen kun ulkona satoi kaatamalla vettä!

Happy Birthday Lattemamma

Blogi täytti keksiviikkona jo viisi vuotta. Minä juhlistan sitä viikonloppuna leipomalla kuppikakkuja ja poksauttamalla pullon kuohuvaa! Kiitos kun olet ollut mukana tällä matkalla! ♥
Guess what?! On Wednesday my blog turned five years! I am celebrating this weekend by baking a whole lot of cupcakes. They are mostly for a charity bake sale but I´m also hosting a baking play date for some little girlfriend´s of ours. And I´m popping open a bottle of celebratory pink bubbles! Hope you have enjoyed the ride so far!
And thank you for being part of so many celebrations of my family! This is only a fraction of all the goodies I have baked during my blogging time. It is safe to say I am not a baking blog or a fabulous cake artists but I would like to think I am good at enjoying life. Doing things without being afraid to fail a little. Sometimes it looks like I have succeeded sometimes it´s just very home made and in my opinion lovely at that. Perfection is not reality anyway. Not all the time at least. Neither is happiness every single moment. It should not even be a goal. I prefer to aim for a little everyday magic. A lot of cuteness. A sprinkling of attitude & pride. And a whole lot of that kindness and gratefulness! You may realise we went from sugary baking to simple thoughts about life.
