Tranquil

Tranquility and serenity are not only great words but also mindsets or moods I love to be in ( but obviously am not at all times). The lovely grey scented candle from Gauhar Helsinki definitely helps me get closer. The scent is delicious. Fresh and full. I shot it in our outhouse on the island. The colours match perfectly ( it would look great in our home too but as we are mid renovations and currently not living there I keep it on the island). For those of you not in the know, on some ( well most,) islands mainly used for summer cottages and summertime living do not have plumbing. The water comes from a well and the outhouse substitutes for a bathroom. Ours is white & light grey inside.

I love burning candles on rainy days and on sunny days. Fall & Winter but also Spring and Summer.  Even as a teenager I remember listening to some music in my room and burning a candle on my window seal ( probably thinking of boys). When scented candles became all the rage at about 17 years ago I was obsessed and I still am. I love how some candles take me back to certain places or eras in my life. Like how I used to always burn my Diptique Mimosa candle in my room in Hamburg or the Tocca Sofia candle that has a scent directly linked to when I first met my husband ( it was a birthday present from my brother a few months after we had started dating with my now husband). Or the Christian Tortú pamplemousse rhubarb that smells just like our apartment in Paris. It may not be über hip to burn scented candles, like it used to be, but they create an atmosphere that just makes me… well tranquil, serene & calm. This one is my current favourite. It is a soy candle made in France ( where they also make the amazing scented sachets I´m obsessed about. They make my jumpers smell so good just being in the same closet).
