What makes your kids happy? Mine are usually most content just hanging out with us. They love doing things like arts and crafts or baking, going out to play ( even just soccer with dad in the inner courtyard on a semi lousy day) or going to the movies or out to eat. As long as it is with family they are usually very happy. They also love being with their friends and most surprisingly they absolutely adore being with our friends. So our children are not very high maintenance and they are fairly easily entertained. They obviously also love new toys etc. like any child. Here are some of the ( more material) things they love at the moment.
They get very happy about little unnecessary things like jewellery and hair pins etc. I think most kids love these. Our favourite brand is MeriMeri as they are just what my girls love, cute and cool and make and outfit more fun. Here is pictured just a fraction of the things we have from the brand.

The Nutcracker birthday
by Sofia - in Good things for kids Party planning
I love the Nutcracker ballet and it is a yearly tradition of ours to go see it but this year we just could not get it fitted in our agendas ( which was just as well as the day we were hoping we would go but had another engagement we turned out being in a stomach flu). Regardless we did have the theme in our minds a lot lately as we hosted Cotton Candy´s 8th birthday with it.
The lovely music was playing in the background and if it would have been up to me we would have had a huge Christmas tree as the party centrepiece. We served supper of jerusalem artichoke soup, fresh bread & butter, salad and a warm smoked salmon. Afterwards there were desserts. Ballerina gingerbread cookies, nougat, candy, macarons, marzipan, panettone & a pavlova wreath. The children also had vanilla ice-cream sundays with fudge sauce, whipped cream and fresh raspberries. Here are some photos from the party. All the guests got to take a small wooden Nutcracker ornament home with them.

Ballerina birthday cake
by Sofia - in Cooking Party planning
I hate being so behind on my posts! We had the most magical Nutcracker party on Saturday but you will have to wait for those photos for a little while longer ( well I have shared a few ones on @lattemammanblogi Instagram).
Today I wanted to share the little cake I made Cotton Candy to bring to her room on her breakfast tray. It is a ruffle cake with a ballerina on top. It looks very unfortunate which it is as a little accident happened to it and I had to re-do half of the cake and then re-pipe the edge of the top which completely ruined the look. But I figured it is more important to be the kind of mother who takes the time to bake a birthday cake for her daughter that to be a perfectionist. So no crying over a ruined cake here. It´s made with love and it looks kind of cute but not very professional ( like all my cakes tend to). I hope you look at it with kind eyes.
Joko joulun lähestyminen on lisännyt stressikierroksia? Menu on jo lähestulkoon valmiiksi suunniteltu.
