The Little Ballerina

Tätä päivää oli odotettu innolla. Tällä viikolla oli Purkan ihka ensimmäinen tanssitunti. Koko kesän hän on innoissaan höpötellyt kuinka hän on nyt iso tyttö koska pääsee syksyllä balettiin. Nyt sen aika siis koitti ja pieni ballerina pääsi pukemaan vaaleanpunaisen balettipuvun ja pienen hamosen päälleen. Isosisko pakkasi avuliaana edellisenä iltana balettikassia Purkalle ja sujautti sinne jo valmiiksi täyttämänsä vesipullonkin. Veden ehdin vielä vaihtaa vähän raikkaammaksi, mutta tältä näytti pienen balettikoululaisen tarvikkeet ( isosiskon vanhat tietenkin).

I promised you a recipe for my pavlova a while ago but forgot all about it. But now I have been reminded and here it goes. For the meringue base I use Linda Lomelino´s recipe as I find it to be just perfect. Crunchy on the outside but not too crunchy to cut through nicely and then it´s nice and chewy on the inside. Perfect for a pavlova if you ask me. You can find her recipe here. To the whipped cream I mix mascarpone cheese and lemon curd. You might also want to add some grated lemon zest and vanilla. I usually make a lot of the topping. So 2 cups whipping cream, a tub of mascarpone ( 500 g) and a jar of lemon curd should do it. Because of the sweetness of the lemon curd it absolutely does not need any extra sugar. I love an old-fashioned berry pavlova but you can top it with almost anything. My favorite is a passion fruit pavlova. I like it´s tanginess with all the sweetness. And this chocolatey malteser version sounds divine too. If you want to make your pavlova extra pretty may I suggest adding some dusting sugar and either some herb leaves ( like mint or basil) or some edible flowers. And there you have it. The perfect pavlova ( for any time of the year not just for summer).

Back to school

Päiväkotiin paluu koitti eilen. Koska olen lomalla olisivat tytötkin voineet viettää vielä aikaa kotona, mutta heillä alkoi jo olla ikävä kavereitaan. Joten sinne menivät reippaat, pikkuiset poninhännät heiluen. Onneksi oikean koulun aloittamiseen on Hattarallakin vielä muutama vuosi. Mutta niin nopeasti tuo aika menee lasten kanssa. Kesän, meren ja auringon tuoksua emme aio ihan vielä pestä iholta kokonaan pois vaan toivottavasti saamme viettää muutaman pitkän viikonlopun vielä saaressa tänä vuonna. Tosin viikonlopulle on taidettu luvata auringonpaisteen sijaan vesisadetta ja ukkosta. Minun suosikki keliäni…
