Cinnamon buns
by Sofia - in Cooking
The scent of cinnamon and cardamon fill the air. But it´s not necessarily the Christmassy kind just the “I need to eat this right away” – kind. Cinnamon buns are one of my favourite pastries. They are just heaven. I have actually never tasted the American frosted kind. And although I´m sure they are heavenly I love the Scandinavian version. We like our cinnamon buns big and sugary… and with a lot of butter too. This is one of those recipes where you don´t want to start skimping or counting calories. Just go full force with the sugar and the butter and the everything! And be prepared to die and end up in cinnamon heaven.
I´m sure everyones grandmother has passed down the best recipe but if you are not in fact Scandinavian but want to impress your friends and family with something yummy you can find a classic and unbeatable recipe in English right here ( and the photos are perfect too!). I don´t bake buns that often really so even I turn to a recipe when making some. I think I will keep this one forever now.

It´s a forever kind of a thing…
by Sofia - in Random
I wish you all a very lovely weekend! Do you have some special plans? We just started reading chapter books for bedtime with Cotton Candy ( Bubble Gum still prefers more photos to keep her engaged so we have had to send her to daddy after a while) so we are looking forward to continuing our story. We are reading Astrid Lindgren´s Madicken which is one of my favourites from my childhood. It´s interesting to read it after all these years and realise it´s like a story of my own kids. The little girls in the few illustrations even look like ours! We will also take full advantage of nature´s offerings and eat our weight in berries and peaches.

I love stripes! I have always been a stripy shirt or dress kind of a girl and I must admit that when stripes became trendy a few years ago I was a bit disappointed that my signature look was so mainstream. But a Breton stripe is a classic. I got the perfect stripy dress from Henry Lloyd for a little blog collaboration and I love it. I have worn it non stop since it arrived in my closet in May. First I had it on my holiday with yellow espadrilles and even though it was a bit cold for a short dress in Finland I wore it with navy leggings and sneakers. It´s comfortable, it´s pretty and it´s great quality. The material is soft cotton but still a bit thicker so it keeps it´s form well. And the great thing about stripes is that you can style them in many ways to make it look a little different. I like it best with white Superga tennis shoes. But if you add some bracelets and pretty sandals you get a whole different look. Or maybe wear it with a leather jacket or a big slouchy cardigan and a chunky scarf. Belt it for a preppier look. You just can not go wrong with it really. It is my favourite summer dress for the city and the island and it is in constant rotation at the moment.
