Knobs
by Sofia - in DIY projects Interior design
In the girls room we keep this very old tattered drawer that belonged to me as a kid. I painted it white a “few years” ago ( while watching the Swedish crown princess Victorias wedding on tv at the same time). In those four years the white paint has worn out and there might be some scratches and little pencil marks on it too. But this piece of furniture is perfect for a little girls room for one reason. It has a lot of drawers. It hosts all those little things girls love to collect, it hosts pencils and markers, hair bows and pins, stickers and whatever you can imagine a girl wanting or needing. So even though the drawer was and is a little worn I was not ready to give it up yet. But those white porcelain knobs that my mom changed to it when I was a little girl ( it originally came with bigger wooden knobs no one liked) started to come loose one after another. So it was time to change some of them. I wanted to do a little something different without it being too much. So I added a few different kinds here and there. A few pink ones from Zara home and off white octagon ones from Anthropologie. That bronze bunny is from there as well and I love it. I´ve seen it used as a curtain holder too. I know the drawer needs a fresh paint too and I think I´ll use the same gray we have on the door if someone finds out which one we used ( we have all forgotten the mixture, the horror). But all in good time. Holidays are for devouring books and eating ice-cream on the dock.

Island living vol. 2
by Sofia - in Interior design Random
Miten viikonloppusi sujui? Me paistoimme taas kasan lettuja mansikoiden kaveriksi ja pidimme lettukestit. Eli ihan oikeissa lomatunnelmissa olemme olleet täällä. Tässä vähän lisää kesäisiä kuvia täältä saaresta. Tällä kertaa sisustuspainotteisia…

Shells shells shells
by Sofia - in Interior design
I have a weakness for beautiful shells. Always did even as a little girl. I collected them on beaches on family vacation and collected the most beautiful stones too. I have no idea how many little sea shells and pebbles I have hauled from the ends of the world but rest assured it was not for nothing. I have kept them and every year when spring turns to summer they take over my house. I am a great lover of the ocean. It´s just one of those things that make me feel at peace, like there is no end to the world. Like the wind could just carry all my troubles and send them to a better place where they seize to exist. Having the shells around me always brings a little bit of that peace to my home. And a memory of beautiful places. Places where things like a job or responsibility are just words without a meaning. And those muted colors and bright whites that combine are just the kind that are easy on my eyes. So here, a little bit from my collection, some collected, some bought from interior design shops.

These beautiful matches are from the Proloque shop. They have different styles, some with shells, some with medusas. I had to get one for the summer house too. These thick and long ones are perfect for when you want to light many candles with one matchstick. I have a bunch of white “church” candles there on the island so they will be perfect. These matchsticks would also make a great country house hostess gift with some pretty candles and a bottle of wine or some fantastic tea ( to enjoy by the candle light).
These funny looking sea creatures ( what ever they are called?) are a recent gift from my mother. They are also from the Proloque shop in Helsinki. They have the most beautiful bigger corals there too with certifications and all. Maybe for my birthday on Monday?
