Happy thoughts

Friday, time for some happy thoughts! It´s been a weird week. I have had some issues with my shoulder ( still) and I´m on yet another sick leave from work which is obviously not a happy thought and some other things have been happening around me that were not on the happy list either ( like someone braking in to the attic in our building, the school sending their first warning of lice going around etc…). But I´m going to go ahead and do “me” which is to find the good things in this week instead of dwelling on the not so delightful stuff.
My number one happy thought this week shall be the light in this apartment. It is one of the first things people comment on when they arrive and one of the main things we fell in love with when we saw the place for the first time ourselves. But now that I have been taking pictures for the blog it really really makes such a difference. I don´t know if you think you can see a difference but I can tell you that taking good ( in my standards) pictures is exponentially easier than in our previous home. It did have a lovely soft mood and lighting but I think it´s fair to say it was pretty dark compared to this piece of real estate that took all the light and did not feel like sharing. So photoshooting wise it´s a very happy thought.
I took these pictures on a grey and cloudy day and probably could have added a bit more light to them but in the previous apartment taking pictures on a cloudy day was nearly impossible. This pretty chocolate box was a gift from a friend. I love Marchesi and hope to visit their London shop in September.

Can you feel it

Can you feel the gorgeous summer nights fading away. In Finland at least fall has taken it´s first steps. Summer left it´s warm memories imprinted on our souls and we have the whole long Fall and Winter to treasure them. But now follows one of my favourite season if not my favourite. Fall has so many great things in store for us. To me it´s always about those lovely cooler days when you can dress up nicely but you don´t really have to bundle up quite like on cold winter days. At home you can wrap yourself in a soft cashmere cardigan and wear those soft cashmere socks too. Candle light and a warm cups of tea. Then there are the crisp apples and pumpkin season. Not to mention pumpkin spiced everything. Cotton Candy was already planning to decorate her room with fall decorations and I think she ended up with pastel painted miniature pumpkins, so I´m not the only fall lover in our household. It´s probably safe to say I´m more than a little excited! Fall also brings us two birthday parties to plan and celebrate. And before you know it it´s time to start planning for Christmas. It´s a yes from me for all of this.

p.s. I´m also very very excited for the Downton Abbey movie. I have also planned a little trip to London to visit my friends where I hope to perhaps catch the film.

Terveiset tuulen tuivertamasta saaresta. “Muutimme” tänne eilen muutamaksi viikoksi lomailemaan. Muutto ja remontti on nyt saatu ihan viimeisiä pikku silauksia vaille valmiiksi ja jätimme ihanan uuden kodin odottamaan paluuta kaupunkiin ja tulimme saareen tekemään ” ei mitään”, mikä onkin nyt ihan parasta koska kotona tulee koko ajan puuhasteltua jotain. Suunnitelmissa on pelailla lautapelejä, ulkoilla, kokkailla helppoja mökkiruokia ja juuri äsken tytöt marssivat korit käsissä ja kiikarit kaulallaan ohitseni ulos tekemään ties mitä. Miten ihanaa onkaan kun heitä ei tarvitse enää aivan jatkuvasti vahtia vaan voi napata uusimman Donna Leonin käteensä ja lueskella ilman huolen häivää tai vaikkapa vihdoin ja viimein vähän kirjoittaa blogia.
Olen lähes pakonomaisesti käyttänyt kaiken liikenevän ajan kodin järjestelemiseen ja sen lopun ajan olenkin sitten viettänyt perheen ja ystävien kanssa tai hieman urheillen, joten tämä rakas harrastus on vääjäämättä jäänyt taas vähemmälle huomiolle. Ja tosiasia on se, että mitä useammin bloggaa sitä helpommin se sujuu. Kun taas pitää taukoja, tuntuu siltä, että pitäisi olla jotakin kovinkin painavaa sanottavaa kun palaa näppäimistön äärelle. Nyt ei mielessä tällä hetkellä ole kovinkaan syvälliset asiat, mutta silti tahdoin istahtaa teitä tervehtimään.
