Silly little things

Although I love life on the island, the slow moving schedule and the fresh air -no make up thing, I sometimes start to miss the pretty little things of city life. Putting nice bows on the girls hair and getting them dressed in pretty summer dresses and ballerina shoes. I miss heels and cute lipsticks and nail polishes, pink flowers and long bubble baths with scented candles and running water to take showers under in the mornings. I must admit I love these silly little things just as much as I love the country life. I know how lucky I am to get to have both of these sides in my life. During July we have made a few quick visits to the city and I have made the most of them with sashimi, sparkling wine and cocktails with a friend one night and dressing up a little nicer just to go out for a casual dinner with mr. Espresso or just sipping on our cappuccinos and babyccinos and nibbling little pastries on a terrace of a café in pretty dresses with my baby girls. You know the sort of thing one might want to indulge in after running wild for some time. Don´t you just love these kinds of superficial and silly but pretty little things?

Good Morning!

Ihaniin yöuniin on näillä helteillä kolme hyvää ratkaisua. Ottaa viilentävä iltauinti juuri ennen nukkumaanmenoa, laittaa ilmalämpöpumpuista jäähdytys päälle ja tietenkin pukeutua kesän suosikkipyjamiin joissa on vain lyhyet shortisit ja hihaton väljä yläosa. Tämä Hattaran kesäpyjama on Petit Bateaun ja se tuli meille siinä Minna G.n lähettämässä paketissa. Hattara on pitänyt yöpaitaa lähes tauotta, se on vain pesty välillä…
It has been so hot lately that we are thankful for having air conditioning at the island and every night before bedtime we take a cooling swim in the sea. Cotton Candy has been in love with her new summer pj from Petit Bateau that we got from Minna G. Shorts and a comfy sleeveless soft cotton top. It´s just perfect for this kind of weather…

Suloista viikonloppua

Tulin vain pikaisesti toivottamaan suloista viikonloppua. Sellaista jossa paistetaan mustikkapiirakkaa ekoista kypsistä mustikoista ja sellaista jossa käperrytään tuoleihin tuijottelemaan erkkeri-ikkunoista hiljaiselle merelle kun lapset ovat jo ajat sitten menneet nukkumaan ja saa keskustella rauhassa tulevaisuuden suunnitelmista, yhteisistä ja omista haaveista ja unelmista. Kynttilät palavat hiljalleen pöydällä ja tunnelma on juuri sellainen kuin sen kuuluu olla kun on ollut koko päivän auringossa kiljahtelevien lasten kanssa, uinut meressä, saunonut raukeasti ja vielä hiukan märät hiukset on sidottu huolimattomalle nutturalle pään päälle. Auringon iholle jättämät suudelmat tuntuvat kepeänä lämpönä poskipäillä. Jalat on tietenkin nostettu vierelle isoon nojatuoliin ja ehkäpä lasi hyvää punaviiniä odottelee pieniä siemaisuja pöydällä. Sellaista viikonloppua toivon sinulle… tai no itselleni toivon sellaista ja sinulle juuri sellaista joka tekee sinut onnelliseksi.
Wishing you a sweet and relaxing weekend. Our plans include an orange glazed grilled duck breast and great conversations in candle light paired with a glass of good wine. We have also planned on grilling a pizza on the pizza stone topped with tomato, buffalo mozzarella and sage from my (!) herb garden. And the basic summer plans that include swimming, staying outdoors all day and feeling the sun kissed warmth on the skin at sunset hair still moist from sauna and the sea and the scent of oranges on my skin ( this is my summer scent I always use on the island).
