The pink ride

Cotton Candy made a very precise wish on her birthday. She asked for a pink (!) scooter. She got the Coral coloured Maxi Micro and it has proved to be a very good choice. Almost daily my husband takes the girls to nursery with a car on his way to work but when I go to pick them up I haul her scooter there. So I was happy to find the scoot´n pull strap. It attaches to the scooter and makes it super easy to carry it on the shoulder. But it has another handy feature as you can also attach it on the scooter beam for pulling your kid when they no longer have the strength to kick it themselves. That would also work well if you are in a crowded space and don’t want your child to scoot too far from you.
At the same time as we ordered the scoot´n pull we ordered Cotton Candy a little basket for her ride. Girls like to have their little treasures or dolls with them and it´s also very handy for the ballet kit and water bottle. Both of these items are very reasonably prized. We actually bought the basket to be given to her when she does a lovely deed. One day after nursery she decided to organise all the girls shoes in the foyer voluntarily and also re-organised the whole closet floor on the foyer ( putting mine and my husbands shoes in the back and theirs on the front). So as we would love to see more similar initiative taken in the house we gave her the basket as a thank you and an encouragement of sorts. I´m telling you that little girl was so proud of having earned it that I think the basket is very special to her and that she will do more good deeds in the future as it truly made her feel appreciated.

Yup. You read right. All that in one cake. And it is good. Very good. The girls and I baked this goodness on Sunday for daddy. Making the salted caramel aka dulce de leche was very easy but a bit time consuming. Otherwise it´s a pretty easy cake to make. In my opinion it sounds like more trouble than it is. The recipe for the cake is here in English plus you add a layer of salted dulce de leche. I found many different ways to make the dulce de leche ( here are 3 different variations). I used the oven version and added Maldon sea salt. You just add the caramel sauce on the cake layer(s) before adding the espresso frosting.
Teimme viikonloppuna tämän syntymäpäiväkakun ja se oli aivan erinomaisen hyvää! Suosittelen kokeilemaan. Itse tehty dulce de leche oli helppo valmistaa uunissa. Kaadoin kaksi purkkia kondensoitua makeutettua maitoa kakkuvuokaan ( mikä tahansa uunin kestävä vuoka käy) ja peitin tiukasti foliolla. Asetin kakkuvuoan vesihauteeseen toiseen uunin kestävään vuokaan ja sitten 220 asteiseen uuniin 90 minuutiksi. Kondensoitu maito muuttuu kullanruskeaksi. Siirsin sen kulhoon ja vatkasin tasaiseksi. Lopulta maustoin karamellikastikkeen merisuolalla. Ihanaa, paksua, kullankeltaista merisuola dulche de lecheä.

Kuten jo myönsin aiemmin, olen ottanut henkisen varaslähdön jo pääsiäisen tunnelmointiin. Tosin kun kaupatkin ovat jo täynnä pääsiäisnamuja, rairuohon siemeniä ja pikkuisia tipuja niin en todellakaan taida olla yksin ajatusteni kanssa.

Löysin tytöille maailman söpöimmät posliiniset leivontamitat joiden avulla syntyy varmasti aikamoisen suloisia pääsiäisleipomuksia! / I can´t wait to bake something with the girls now that I found them these cute bunny measuring spoons. Little people with flour on their face and butter in their fingers are the best!
