Melting snowmen
by Sofia - in Cooking
My friend had a Frozen birthday party for her 4 year old daughter. I volunteered to bake some cookies as I remembered seeing these super cute melting snowman cookies online and wanted to try them out. They were not exactly Olaf, but very cute regardless. These would be adorable for any special treat, especially with hot cocoa. I don´t really know for certain who originally came up with this idea as they have been reproduced so many times but I can take zero credit for the design myself. I just wanted to share these incase you have not seen them yet. Just use your favourite sugar cookie recipe and whatever icing you like, the add a marshmallow for the head and decorate with thicker coloured icing. Some had made cute hats and scarves for the snowmen too, but I left it out to get at least the smallest resemblance of Olaf on these.

The best gloves
by Sofia - in Good things for kids
Santa was Christmas shopping in Paris again this year ( without me… gasp… as I was lounging around in the sun at that time) and found some very cute and useful things for the girls and mummy and daddy too. One of the presents that falls in to both categories were these sheepskin gloves the girls got. We really wanted warm but still nice looking gloves for them to wear with their “city outfits”. They have the warm but not so pretty ski mittens to match their winter overalls that they use for playing in the snow when they go outside at pre-school etc. But those do not look so nice with the pretty coats they use for going there and coming home or for going to parties or around town. You know, basically for everywhere else than the playground. We had cashmere gloves but they are nearly not warm enough for the winter that has been going on in Finland lately ( up to -25 degrees celsius in Helsinki). So these Marie Puce gloves were absolutely perfect!
Keep warm! It´s really snowing in Helsinki today!
Pysytelkää lämpiminä! Itse olen ainakin ihan onneni kukkuroilla kun vihdoin on saatu tänne eteläiseenkin Suomeen kunnon talvi!

Bath bombs
by Sofia - in DIY projects
Ooh these are good! I sometimes feel funny sharing these DIY projects as I know I´m not really very crafty or bake superbly pretty cakes for that matter ( unless lopsided is good which I think it sometimes is). But the point here is, I guess, that if I can do it then you can too! I know a lot of people make beautiful crafts and amazing sugar fondant creations. Mine look funny compared to those. But I´m still not going to stop making things with kids or alone. And boy am I proud of all these little things we manage to create and blissfully aware that they are not perfect but still fun to make. Because if there is something I know I´m very good at it´s getting excited about the small things and doing those small things with my girls. And isn´t that the most important part? I´m always happiest when the pre-school or nursery teachers tell me that our girls have a great ability to get enthusiastic about almost anything. I like to think there is that little part of me in them. And you know what? This was a project we all got very enthusiastic about. So get excited, get ready and start making bath bombs!
