Star Gazing

Sattuipa viikonlopuksi täydelliset kelit! Syksy tuoksui jo ilmassa vaikka Lauantaina tarkeni välillä olla kallioilla ihan uimapukusillaankin. Läheisessä saaressa vietettiin syysmarkkinoita. Siellä oli muusikkoja jotka soittelivat täydellistä markkinamusiikkia ja kuuma kalakeitto maistui markkinavieraille. Sen jälkeen kävimme vielä veneajelulla nauttimassa auringonpaisteesta ja kimaltelevista aalloista. Illalla kun saunoimme aurinko paistoi vielä matalalla ja uimme ehkäpä viimeistä kertaa tänä vuonna. Tytöt juoksivat kallioilla pyyhkeet hulmuten ja vain silhuetit piirtyivät aurinkoa vasten kun istuin juomassa saunajuomaani ja ihmettelin jälleen kerran kuinka kauniita hetkiä elämä voi ihmiselle tarjota kun pysähtyy hetkeksi katsomaan. Lämpimän syyspäivän jälkeen tuli kirkas ilta ja me valvoimme Hattaran kanssa normaalia vähän myöhempään. Pötköttelimme käsi kädessä terassilla ja katselimme ihan mieletöntä tähtitaivasta. Mietimme kuinka hirmuisen pieniä me olemme ja kuinka valtavan suuri avaruus yllämme avautuu. Pohdimme sitä kuinka onnekkaita olemme kun juuri me olemme pieni perhe kaiken sen valtavan suuren keskellä. Hieman haikein mielin jätimme saaren taaksemme Sunnuntaina, tuskin nimittäin enää ehdimme tänä vuonna lainkaa käymään. Mutta onneksi viikonloput täyttyvät muista kivoista menoista!
We spent the most gorgeous and sunny weekend on the island taking boat rides and probably swimming for the last time this season. On Saturday night when the sun had set and the skies were clear Cotton Candy and I stayed up a little later than usual. We laid on the terrace holding hands and gazing at the stars. We were counting the stars and our blessings. It was a very special moment for both of us and I will cherish the memory for a very very long time.

island feeling

Me karkaamme kaupungista saareen viikonlopuksi, taitaa olla ihan viimeisiä kertoja tänä vuonna. Kelien pitäisi olla kohdillaan, mutta saaressa on kyllä syksyisin ihanan tunnelmallista muutenkin.
We are headed to the island for the weekend. I love the feeling of leaving the city lights behind us and taking the boat to the tranquil island. Even in the fall when the nights get darker and sometimes we are covered in rain gear and the wind is howling. We lift the girls up on that dock and carry our groceries inside. We often get there quite late so I start preparing dinner immediately. We light up some candles and the girls help set the table. Maybe we open a bottle of great red wine and my husband lights the fireplace. It´s like this little shift in time happens. You suddenly just move a little slower and breath a little deeper and hug a little longer. It´s heaven.

Happy thoughts

Happy thoughts have not frequented the blog for a while but they are still my personal favourites. And it does not mean that I have not had any happy thoughts lately. I have. I´m still on my summer holiday and I have enjoyed some time during the days just being alone at home. I love to just do random things like watching a movie in the middle of the day or drinking way too much coffee and reading on my bed. Or staying in my pj´s until mid day just because I can ( gasp). Oh and going for a run and then taking a long bath with candles and all just smack middle of the day. You know the kind of stuff you sometimes wish you could do but instead you are at the office.
It is also nice to be able to get your kids home early and pick up some friends for a playdate at the same time. One of my best friend´s daughters are the same age as my girls and they are actually in the same nursery and pre-school too and happen to be great friends too. It is one of those things I love about life. When you and your friends have kids you think they will automatically be good friends but we all know that is not always the case. So when it happens it´s awesome for lack of a better word. This week we picked up our girls together after having mid morning smoothies first. She took the younger girls with her and I took the older ones to our house. Cotton Candy was in charge of her guest and got to plan what she wanted to do with her. They wanted to make those little cardboard boxes so I let them. Other than getting the craft supplies I just gave them the afternoon snack and let them be on their own. They loved it!
