My island style

Vaikka rakastankin naisellisia hameita, Chanel henkisiä jakkuja ja silkkisiä paitoja niin saareen ( ja usein kaupunkiinkin) pukeudun rennon sporttisesti. Tässä vähän tämän kesän suosikeja…
I love a very feminine style but I also love a casual and sporty look. I´m very much a stripy shirt and ponytail kind of a girl. So when I found this great knit I knew it would be my number one island style piece. We are more than casual on the island… the girls barely get changed from their pj´s before noon but I do love a comfortable and good looking piece of clothing even if it´s not very fancy.
Here are my current favourites for the island.
This chunky Hunky Dory Knit became an instant favourite the second I saw it ( in Nougat). It´s thick cotton and a lovely off white & navy colour combo. This slouchy style looks good with everything from jeans to flowy long skirts so it´s super versatile too.
White Superga´s are a favourite year after year.
I love my matching raincoat with the girls. It´s the Petit Bateau classic and has a soft milleraies cotton jersey lining. I roll the sleeves so the lining shows a little and like it just like that.

Happy thoughts

Perjantain aikainen aamuvene saarta kohti. Kaupasta haetut lämpimät karjalanpiirakat aamupalaksi tyynellä merellä nautittuna aamuauringon lämmittäessä. Siinäpä vasta onnen aihe. /We left to the island early on Friday morning. We packed the car the night before and were in the grocery shop by 7.30 am and had warm from the oven Karelian pies on the boat for breakfast. There is a happy thought I think can hardly be topped. In paradise before 10 am.
Kaunis kesäinen sää jota seurasi mitä kaunein vaaleanpunainen auringonlasku. Mitä kaunein onnen aihe. /The weather was lovely and we saw some pink sunset skies at night. Absolutely a happy thought.
Pienet sorsanpoikaset jotka harjoittelivat uimista ja sukeltamista saaren rannoilla ja kipittelivät välillä pitkin rantakallioita. Miten suloisia. Ehdottomasti onnen aihe. /Little wild ducks had just been born and we saw the families with their babies swimming around all the time. Squeals, sighs, squeals from little girls. Baby animals are truly a happy thought, they are so cute!

Birthday Girl

She loves the smell of warm coffee,
bloomed roses
and new beginnings.
Last week was my birthday and I got woken up with a huge bouquet of pastel pink roses and some berries and a cappuccino in bed. The day proceeded to a morning coffee with a friend on a sunny terrace watching work commuters walk past us while we chatted away and we also did some shopping ( a girl needs a new dress every now and then). I then picked my girls up very early and we went for ice-cream. The day was filled with all my favourite weather from super sunny to thunder and pouring rain. So we got dressed in our wellies and rain coats and went to our courtyard to run in the rain. The night ended with a perfect dinner at my friend´s house. We sat outside on her balcony looking at the sea in candle light listening to jazz, sipping champagne and eating oysters.
On my way home I stopped to smell some lilacs and thought how perfect my life really is. Obviously nothing is really that perfect but that is the beauty of it, it´s just the way I need it to be for me. I feel like my four year old has it put perfectly into words when she swings high over the playground and laughs her catching laughter from her tummy and screams with delight ” This is the best day ever!”… every day of her life. All you need is the wind in your hair, someone to push you forward and someone to catch you if you fall.
