Dear diary

by Sofia   -   in Random

What is your way of staying on top of things in the busy hustle and bustle we call life? Do you keep a daily planner or have you gone electronic and use your phone to mark down your important appointments? I´m definitely a paper planner person. I like how it feels in my hands and I like to write things down and look at my weekly view. Besides I think planners are so pretty. I also just bought a new monthly view calendar to keep on the pantry wall.

But to truly keep my head straight and to mark down ideas, to get the worries out of my head, to cherish the things I´m truly thankful for or to dream and plan for the future I use a diary. I have been writing a diary for as long as I can  remember. It was probably the most therapeutical thing to do for a teenager as who really would have wanted to listen to all that gushing about boys or my friends. It would probably be fun to one day open up and start reading how I felt then and to be reminded about the times. When the girls were little I had a sort of a break from writing a diary or it was at most very irregular which is sort of sad as it would be fun to look back to those memories but luckily it has been memorised in picture form and obviously here on the blog too for some part. At that time of my life it just sort of felt like there was not that time for that and everything that was happening was so big and new and fulfilling I really somehow just did not even get it out of me. It felt like if I started writing I would be writing for weeks to get it all on paper. Then a diary like Mom´s one line a day seems more realistic at times. On top of having a full heart at that point you also have your hands so full but it´s still great to jot down little things like the dates when they learned to crawl or the funny things they said. Anyhow I am back to writing my diary and I have to tell you I highly recommend it to everyone.

Starting fresh

by Sofia   -   in Interior design

Who is excited for the new year? I love that we have seen some more light daily. Even if it is baby steps you know that eventually Spring will come. But before that there are so may wonderful things coming like Valentine´s Day and another school holiday ( in Finland it is literally called the ski-ing holiday and us, like many others are spending it ski-ing) and of course Easter.

If you have decided to clean out your closets to get a brand new start then I´m sort of with you. As I am literally emptying every single nook and cranny of this house and getting rid of things that are no longer relevant ( I´m very rubbish at that as I hold on to things even just for their sentimental value, like a baby book that is all ripped but was Cotton Candy´ s favourite book as a teeny tiny start of a toddler). Anyhow I´m trying to be sensible and to get rid of the excess.

I love the idea of a fresh start and a clean closet. Pure white flowers and the sunny late winter mornings are already in my mind. We are going to have to wait a few more months until our own house is ready but hopefully the move will be before the winter turns completely to Spring. As to me it is the time of new things and new beginnings and it would just make me so happy to be able to be there to put the house together at that time. To organise my table linens, candles and silver in the dining room. Set up my cake stands and glass items in the pantry. To fold white towels and sheets in the closet. To have a vase of fresh flowers in every room and all my pretty scented candles and dear books and precious shells around the house. To set up my laundry room with my Laundress products and pretty glass jars for my detergents and clothespins and cashmere combs & stain brushes. To only have the pretty and needed cosmetics in my bathroom cupboard and to know that our attic and basement are in neat order with the new see through boxes and nothing extra in there. I will open the windows in my kitchen and breath in the Spring air…

You know I only have to think these thoughts to get me through all this packing somehow. It is my carrot to imagine the new place and how it is all worth it in the end!

Our favourite outfit from Jacadi this season is this gorgeous college shirt paired with corduroy pants and a scalloped edge t-shirt. All the products can be used separate too. The t-shirt goes with anything really but I can see it during summer with shorts or a skirt. A must sale buy at -30% because the same classic style will most likely be at the summer collection too. The sweatshirt will also be great with their white sweatpants or with leggings for a sporty look but would look cute even with a skirt. And during the summer with white or navy shorts! And the pants would look fabulous with a cardigan too or a button down shirt or blouse and mary jane´s for a party and as they are cute narrow from the cuff they would go well with their leather boots! Such a versatile outfit but I really love this style as a combo. It´s a great school outfit and fancy enough for a lunch on the town with granny. They could wear it for visiting friends and it´s comfy enough for helping around the house like Cotton Candy in these photos.
